"Okay, just speak clearly and convince them that you'll be useful," Annie thought to herself. She believed it too, animals have always calmed her and she was confident that if given the opportunity she could really prove herself here at Bright Eyes. Even if a volunteer position was the best she could obtain, Annie would be grateful to have a reason to get out of the cottage she shared with her older brother. Of course a paid position would be even better, that way she would be able to help out around the house and take some of the pressure off of Matthew. Annie hoped that the management would be okay with her still being a high school student, as she would need to work after school and on weekends once summer ended. That wouldn't leave a lot of time for socializing, but Annie wasn't too strong in that department anyway. Animals were by far her first choice of company. Finishing her mental self coaching, Annie straightened out her long sleeve sweater and tried to appear confident as she headed into the shelter. A bell above the door chimed, announcing her entrance as she got her first look at the shelters interior. Finding herself alone in the shop Annie allowed herself to take in the various information sheets and available products around the front desk. Surely someone was here, otherwise the door wouldn't have been unlocked, right? Annie was about to call out towards the back of the shop when a loud purr errupted near her feet, followed by a fluffy tail rubbing against her leggings. "Well hi there!" Annie cooed, squatting down to pet the overly friendly cat. In a matter of seconds the cat had nudged the young girl into a seated position and claimed it's seat in her lap, clearly this had been it's goal all along. For a moment Annie worried about the cats fur clinging to her sweater, that wasn't exactly ideal when asking for a job, but hey, it is an animal shelter. Before long the cat had captured Annie's complete attention, she forgot all about looking for an employee and was perfectly content just sitting with her new feline friend. | |
