Welcome to Choteau, Montana, in 2018. What was once only a small city focused on fossils, has now started to turn into an equestrian mecca. Everyone still knows everyone, so the question remains, what will you become?

Appearance
At just 5'6 and 130lbs, Annie is often overlooked when in crowds. Her wardrobe consists of mainly comfortable jeans and a few sweaters or tanks that she's managed to accumulate over the years. Comfort and coverage have always been her main concern regarding clothing, due to living in unstable foster homes. Now that she's living with her brother and feeling safer, Annie is starting to test the water with some more "girly" styles.
Personality
Annie would likely be described by observers as well mannered yet subdued. She doesn't like to cause trouble and will easily go along with what others want to do, assuming she doesn't see any potential risk. She looks up to her brother who has always set an example of what is right and wrong, so naturally her goal in life is to make him proud. Part of that means being an easy teenager to care for, Matthew shouldn't have to be a parent and Annie hates the thought of being a burden to him. When she's really comfortable, like around Matthew, Annie can be pretty goofy and often sarcastic.
History
Childhood was far from ideal for Annie. She was born into a hostile household, where she quickly became accustomed to her father's violent outbursts, often towards her older brother Matthew. As far as Annie can recall her brother has been the one to step up and care for her as her father should have, at least as much as a young boy could manage.
One day when she was five years old, Matthew found his mother and sister recovering from an attack and decided he'd had enough of seeing his loved ones tormented. He made sure that their father would never hurt them again. Unfortunately, this meant that it would be a long time before Annie saw her brother again.
At first it was just Annie and her mother, and her mother really did try to make it fun. They had "girl time" and made extravagant plans for when Matthew came home and they would be a family again. Those plans didn't last long, as Annie's mother had relapsed and overdosed not long after Matthew was sent to prison.
This left Annie to the foster system. Aside from moving to a different foster family or group home every six months or so, Annie got pretty lucky compared to other kids. Sure, there were often pervy foster brothers(or worse, dads), but she managed to stay mostly under their radars. Keeping friends while in the system can be incredibly difficult given that your address constantly changes, so Annie often took solace in books to keep her company. The thing that really kept her going though, that would be letters from Matthew. It would sometimes take months for his letters to catch up to her between her moves, but they never failed to reassure her hope that he would someday come for her.
It wasn't easy. It took years of Matthew pleading with judges, bettering himself, and devoting himself to police work, but Annie was finally able to return to him.
Sadly, the bad luck wasn't over for the two just yet. Annie's brother was shot while on duty, and although he would live, he wouldn't be able to return to the force. The two of them packed up and moved to a cottage in Choteau where Matthew hopes to find work on a ranch. As for Annie? She finally gets a chance to live as a normal teenager(a girl can hope, right?), as part of a loving family.
