the fragile always fall apart

Technically, Ivarr was more than capable of doing the shopping by himself, but he was also a fan of pulling two things in at once. So it was he'd already been planning to pick Kristian up after his shift (which was a success), and now onto shopping, after he'd picked up some more arrows for his bow, among a few other supplies.
Now it was onto shopping, which would go easier if they'd decided somewhat on meals for the week ahead. So it was the shopping trip was taking longer then he'd planned which only meant that he was starting to scan more intently for potential threats, not even aware that he'd reached for the sidearm that wasn't actually there.
"What do you think about a Lamb stew on Monday, done in slow cooker?" he signed as he tried to get some resolution. "Leftovers used on the next day?" he added on, shifting and tensing as he knocked into someone, turning sharply, to identify just who it was, instinctively signing an apology without remembering that most people didn't tend to know sign language.
