Biography
Mustered by accident about a year and a half ago, Sassy was actually meant to live her infertile life out on the HMA as part of the herd. However, she got mustered, and they couldn't release her back out. Smart and wily, she's been adopted twice and returned twice, too difficult and occasionally dangerous for his owners.
Rae adopted her last year and worked intensely with her the month she was in the state, before letting her just be a mule out in the pasture on a ranch of friends of hers. Sassy clearly remembered her lessons quite well, because when she picked her up a month ago she was almost eager to continue working with her, although she's still a stubborn, strong and incredibly wily creature. She's the undoubted leader out in the pasture, sometimes a dominant bitch in hand, hates being in a stall and has been known to use her jumping skills to get out of the pasture (and that includes rather sizable fences... Occasionally brought down to size by a judicious application of hindlegs). And we're not even talking about her sassy temper then; she likes to be treated like a princess, but not kept safe in bubble wrap. She's definitely got an attitude, which at times is a bit dangerous, but that's mostly because she's unaware of her own size, weight and strength. But when she puts her good ears on, she's a delight to work with; clever, sensitive, eager to please, incredibly surefooted. And she makes an excellent foster mother or herd mother for youngsters.
