Blue eyes were framed by shaggy black hair cut into layers and pristinely styled to give the back combed, slightly punk look that Marius had elected to go for that day, which would be rather unremarkable if it wasn't for the rainbow coloured extensions that were slotted in to provide a dash of colour, pale skin made all the more paler by the dark eyeliner as they walked through the park, daring anyone to make a comment about their attire. Which today was a white victorian collared shirt, under a black laced corset (the lacings red), and tight fitting black jeans. The whole clothing was finished with knee high black leather boots, with a wedge heel, and a black cane, which they were currently swinging casually as they walked through the park.
Their head was angled high, and they were humming along to 'Candyman' from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (the broad way version naturally), as they moved, ignoring some of the comments they were getting - mainly along the lines of 'freak' and 'wierdo' because really. There were not enough hours in the day. A violin case was held loosely in their other hand, eyes scanning to find some location to set up to start to play, not even for money - though a bit of extra income would always be gratefully recieved - but just for the sheer joy of playing in the open.

Sunny days called for being outside most of the day. The girl had spent most of her day in the barn, which she didn't mind, but she needed some fresh air. Working her first job had been hard on her. She was used to barn work, but having a job was totally different. Even if a lot of the stuff she did as a groom was stuff she did for her own horse. She now had to do twice as much work. Kennedi sighed. She would get used to it. It was part of being an adult. Her step-dad had shielded her from the realities for long enough. It was time she started living on her own. With the help of his money, though.
Kennedi decided to head to the park, even though she was filthy, coming straight from the barn. She needed the fresh air, badly. The sun would help her relax, as well. It wasn't totally warm outside, but it was a nice enough day. Spring was in the air, and she was excited for the warmer weather. Although, she was starting to hope it didn't get too warm, for work's sake. She was walking along the pathway, enjoying the sights of the park when she noticed a person carrying a violin. It had been forever since she had seen someone play. She halfway ran up to them, all excited. "Do you play?" she blurted out, and then bit her tongue. "Well, you probably do. Since you're carrying that thing and all..." she trailed off, and smiled brightly at the person. "Hi! I'm Kennedi," she introduced herself, her peppy attitude rolling off of her.

Marius glanced at the individual, eyes quickly taking in their form, and the fact they appeared to have been working in a stable at least. Then they gave the faintest hint of a smile at their introduction, and the question about the violin they carried. That had brought a nod at least. "Just one of many ways I am the dark sheep of the family," came the easy response, unconcerned about admitting such.
"Marius Chaput," came the calm response to the offering of a name, even as they offered their hand to shake, after a brief hesitation and removing one glove.

Kennedi stood puzzled at explanation of the violin. "Why does playing the violin make you the black sheep?" she questioned the stranger. She was terrible with blurting out questions inappropriately. Her naivety didn't help her in any way. "Nice to meet you," she said, reaching for the outstretched hand and shaking it, firmly. She had always learned that having a good handshake was important. "What do you like to play?" she asked, motioning towards the violin again. Kennedi was probably asking too many questions, but she didn't really seem to mind. Hopefully the person in front of her didn't, either.
That question brought an easy smile to Marius' lips. "It isn't the violin playing that makes me the black sheep, it is my refusal to conform to gender expectations, and to present as either male or female - when I'm an individual very much against the binary. It to me is a cage. A restriction against the beauty of human form," they responded. After all. if they were to wear the clothes they desired, they weren't one to hide that they didn't conform to gender binary - or see the binary as anything at all useful to them.
The question about what they preferred to play was another one that brought a smile to their lips. "Primarily classical, or musical numbers - I rather had Candyman from the broadway version of Willy wonka and the chocolate factory in my head, but I'm rather partial to Love Never Dies," that brought another wider smile. "Just please, don't talk to me about the storyline of that musical, I can appreciate the aesthetics of the set and the clothing, and the music is... near flawless as one would expect, but the storyline is... a mess," there was no shame to them in admitting they were a fan of musicals. It was after all a part of life. "I also play occasionally to earn a bit of money, I'm apparently good at the violin, according to my cousin that and being a showperson - I correct him every time that I'm a showperson, not a showman - he's always saying I should be on stage. I always respond 'but my dear cousin, the whole world is a stage if you know how to play it'"
Kennedi smiled at the person. "Oh, I get it. I'm sorry your family feels that way. But I'm glad you're standing up for yourself," she said. Personally, she identified as a female, and she didn't quite understand not identifying as a certain gender, but she supported everyone's personal decisions. She would never discriminate based on a person's appearance.
"I'd love to hear you play, sometime," she said, happily. She hadn't seen the broadway version of Willy Wonka, so she wasn't familiar with the tune, but she did know Love Never Dies. Kennedi did enjoy musicals herself. She had even played a role in Beauty and the Beast in high school. Of course, she was just an extra, and didn't have many lines, but she was still happy with her part. She had fun doing it. "I haven't actually seen the musical, so I can't comment anyways. I'll have to watch it sometime, despite the storyline," she said, smiling at the boy. "I guess I'll have to hear you play to see how good you are, then!" She was excited, hoping the person would allow her to listen to them play.

Marius smiled again giving a nod. "I would be more than happy to play, any requests?" they murmured as they moved smoothly to set the case down, a manicured hand moving to open the case. The inside of the case had a haphazard collection of sheet music - some of which were hand written by themselves, others pieces they were learning.
Carefully the tuning was checked as they played a few notes running the bow over the strings, giving a pleased little smile, before looking over to Kennedi with a half expectant expression.
Almost idly they started to play a random little series of notes, more to warm up as they glanced over again. A sudden realisastion made them crouch briefly to close the case, before all the sheet music blew all over the place. "You'll have to excuse my messy case, I have the shocking habit of keeping music in the case itself," it kept their favourite pieces close at least.
A sudden gust of wind blew a few cherry blossom flowers onto their top, sending their long hair swirling around them, before they moved to push the stray strands back behind their ears, tucking it out the way. That revealed a few piercings along the left ear, starting from the lobe and then rings in the upper ear, with charms hanging from them, the one in the lobe having the LGBT flag.
Kennedi shook her head, not sure of what she should ask them to play. "Play me your favorite thing to play!" she said, excitedly. She hadn't heard a violin play live before. It was a new experience for her. She had heard orchestras, and listened to different bands and musicals who incorporated them. But to hear a violin play directly in front of her, at her request, was new. She smiled at the person as they began to play a few notes, excited for what she was about to hear.
"If you think that's a mess, you should see my room. Or my car," she giggled. She wasn't necessarily dirty, but she was messy. It was usually just a mess of clothes all over the place, including in her car. Or things she just forgot to take out of her car when she got out. Old newspapers from the mail, stuff she bought from the store, things like that. She just tended to be a little bit chaotic when it came to cleaning. When she felt like it, she would clean the house from top to bottom. But that was on a good day.

NOTESLink If you can ignore the piano accompaniment, should give an idea on the violin version.
Those words had brought a smile of joy to the painted lips. It wasn't often when requested that the choice of music was left to their own choice, and they already knew the tune they had every intention to play. At least after they checked and triple checked the tuning, making a few adjustments before giving a content nod at the sound.
Carefully the violin was brought to position, tucking the fine instrument under their chin, taking a deep breath mentally counting themselves in, eyes half closing as they began to play, lips parting slightly as they let themselves get lost in the music.
The notes came easily to their mind, translating smoothly into their playing, adjusting the pacing, and how they stroked the strings with the bow to tell the tale, and evoke the emotion, sometimes slow and hesitating, sometimes even allowing a brief pause before the music swept back in, growing rapider, like the wings of a butterfly as they warmed and spread in the sun for the first time, before reigning the pace back in, focus absolute just on the tune in their head, the notes behind eyes that were fully closed, the sudden increase in speed, the music itself feeling more confident before once again slowing - but less in giving a feel of hesitation, and more in decision
The entrancement music caused was absolute enough that they were unaware their lips moved slightly as they counted the total pause, before smoothly bringing the violin back to life, total confidence, total decision, ignoring the wind catching their hair, tugging at the high collar of their shirt, brow furrowing face coming totally alive as they let the emotions the piece was evoking spread through their body, the last note ending cut off, nostrils flaring slightly as they worked to quickly regain oxygen, unaware they'd got that lost in the music that they were panting as if having physically ran. Slowly they opened their eyes as they lowered the instrument, hands suddenly shaking as they blinked at the intrusion of light.
Kennedi smiled brightly as the person started to play for her. The music was like heaven for her ears. She didn't recognize the piece, but it was beautiful all the same. It wasn't everyday someone played the violin for her. In fact, this was the first time. She closed her eyes, and began to sway with the music, just ever so slightly. Her body was becoming lost in the music, her mind relaxing to the sound. Everything around her seemed to disappear. As the music cut off, Kennedi opened her eyes again, and smiled at the person. "That was beautiful!" she said, excitedly. "Thank you so much for playing for me. It's the first time anyone has ever done that for me," she admitted.

Marius gave a flourished bow at the praise, smiling more. "Thank you, it was a piece from Love Never dies...the title piece actually - even if technically it's one meant to be sung rather than just played," they gave another slight smile. "Also, you're welcome," that was added on easily as they looked over at her once more.
"What is it you do around here?" they suddenly asked, even as they moved smoothly to crouch down to place the violin away, looking over at her now curiously. Because enough about themselves, it was rude to only focus on what they did and wanted in life.
Carefully they pushed their hair behind their ear again as they grew aware that it had escaped where they'd moved it to, slowly standing once more.
